Free Gulf Salary Check Tool: Compare 6 Countries in Rupees

Is AED 1,500 a good salary for a packing helper? Is SAR 2,500 fair for a driver? Without a reference point, most first-time Gulf jobseekers rely on what an agent says. Resume Arab's free Salary Check tool gives you a starting point in one tap: pick a job and a country, see a planning salary range, and see it converted to rupees at today's rate. This guide explains what the tool shows, how to read it honestly, and how to cross-check any offer before you sign.

What the tool covers

The Salary Check tool has 12 blue-collar and semi-skilled categories:

  • Tailor, Sewing Machine Operator, Garment Worker
  • Warehouse Helper, Packing Helper, Logistics Worker
  • Cleaning Helper, Housekeeping
  • Factory Helper, General Labour
  • Forklift Operator, Driver

For each one it shows a monthly range in the local currency of all six GCC countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain), converts it to Indian rupees with a live exchange rate, and draws a side-by-side chart so you can see which country's range is higher once everything is in rupees.

How to read the ranges

The ranges are planning figures, not job offers and not official statistics. They describe what many employers pay for that type of job, but real offers depend on:

  • What is included. A lower salary with free housing, food and transport can leave you with more savings than a higher salary without them.
  • Experience and skills. A helper who can also operate a forklift, or a tailor who handles industrial machines, sits higher.
  • Employer size. Large logistics, retail and facility-management groups often pay more steadily than small firms.
  • City. Dubai, Doha and Riyadh can differ from smaller cities in the same country.

We review the ranges against outside data. For example, GulfTalent's Dubai warehouse assistant data shows an average around AED 2,500, higher than the tool's UAE helper range, which reflects packages where housing and food are provided. Where you see a gap like this, trust the live market and your written offer over any single number.

Two GCC countries publish a minimum wage that protects helpers and labourers:

  • Qatar: a basic minimum of QAR 1,000 a month, plus at least QAR 300 for food and QAR 500 for housing if the employer does not provide them, under Law No. 17 of 2020, as Gulf News reported.
  • Kuwait: a private-sector minimum of KWD 75 a month, in place since 2017 according to Kuwait Times.

If a Qatar or Kuwait offer is below these floors, do not accept it, whatever an agent promises.

How salaries are paid

In most GCC countries, private-sector wages must go through an official Wage Protection System into a bank account or payroll card. In the UAE, the system now tracks salary payments in real time, as Gulf News reported. Ask the employer how and when you will be paid, and keep your payslips.

A 5-minute offer check

  1. Open the Salary Check tool, choose your job and the offer's country.
  2. Compare the offer's total salary with the range.
  3. Ask what is included: housing, food, transport, overtime, ticket home.
  4. Use the cost of living calculator for anything you must pay yourself.
  5. Convert what you will save with the currency converter.

If the offer is far below the range with nothing included, ask questions. If it is far above, ask for everything in writing before paying for medicals or tickets; unusually high offers are a common trick in fake job scams.

Which country pays most? It depends

People often ask which Gulf country pays best. In local numbers the ranges can look similar, and the Omani, Kuwaiti and Bahraini figures look small because those currencies are worth far more per unit. Once the tool converts everything to rupees, the differences become clear, but salary is only half the story:

  • Saudi Arabia has a very large job market for drivers, cleaners and construction helpers, often with company housing.
  • The UAE has the most varied employers, but rent is high if you are not given accommodation.
  • Qatar has a published minimum wage that protects the lowest-paid workers.
  • Kuwait pays in the strongest currency in the region, but jobs near the minimum only work with free housing and food.
  • Oman and Bahrain are smaller markets with fewer openings but lower living costs.

So use the chart to narrow your search, then judge each real offer on what you will actually save.

Tips for using the numbers in a negotiation

You rarely negotiate as a first-time helper, but experienced workers can. If you have three or more years in the same trade and a clean record, it is reasonable to ask whether the employer can match the upper part of the range, or add an allowance for food or transport. Ask politely, once, with your experience as the reason. Never invent experience to get a higher number; it will show in the trade test.

FAQs

Is the rupee conversion live?

Yes. The tool uses live exchange rates, and clearly shows when it falls back to an estimate because the live feed is unavailable.

Are the salary ranges guaranteed?

No. They are planning ranges. Your written offer is what counts, and it depends on the employer, experience and what is included.

Does it cover white-collar jobs?

Not yet. The 12 categories are blue-collar and semi-skilled. For professional roles, see our CV format guides, which include salary context with sources.

Do I need an account?

No. The tool is free and works without signing up.
