Heavy Driver CV for Gulf Jobs 2026: Licence, Vehicles, Real Pay

Heavy Driver CV for Gulf Jobs 2026: Licence, Vehicles, Real Pay

For a heavy driver, the CV is really a licence document with a work history attached. The first thing a Gulf transport manager wants to know is not your name but what you are allowed to drive: which licence, which class, which country, and whether it is still valid. The second thing is what you have actually driven, where, and for how long without an accident. A CV that answers those two questions on the first half-page gets a call.

This guide is for truck, trailer, tanker, bus and equipment drivers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka who are applying for Gulf driving jobs in 2026. It covers what to put in the CV, how local licensing works in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE, and what heavy drivers are being paid in vacancies that are open right now.

The licence block comes before everything else

Put a short licence block right under your name and contact details:

  • Home country licence – licence number, class (for India: transport / HMV / HGMV / HPMV as printed on the card), date of issue, expiry date, issuing state.
  • Any GCC licence – country, category (light, heavy, bus, trailer, equipment), number, expiry. A valid GCC licence is the single biggest advantage a driver can have.
  • Endorsements – hazardous goods or tanker training, forklift or equipment certificates, defensive driving course.

Write the licence history honestly. Employers check it with the issuing authority, and Gulf traffic departments look at how long you have held a licence.

Show the vehicles, not just the word "driver"

"Heavy Driver – 9 years" says very little. A transport manager wants to picture you in the cab:

  • Vehicle types – rigid truck, tipper, trailer (flatbed, lowbed, curtain-side), tanker (water, diesel, sewage), bus (staff, school, coaster), mixer, vacuum truck.
  • Gearbox and size – manual or automatic, number of axles, tonnage where you know it.
  • Loads – containers, steel, building material, fuel, water, passengers.
  • Routes – city delivery, inter-city highway, desert sites, port and free-zone runs, cross-border trips.

A title line that works: Heavy Driver – Trailer & Tipper – 9 years (4 years Saudi) – Valid Saudi Heavy Licence.

The CV layout transport managers prefer

  1. Name, title line, WhatsApp with country code, email, current city.
  2. Licence block (as above).
  3. Passport block: number, issue and expiry, date of birth, nationality, ECR/ECNR for Indian passports.
  4. A short summary: vehicles, routes, accident-free years, languages.
  5. Work history, newest first: company, country, fleet type, routes, years.
  6. Skills and training.

Two pages maximum. A clear photo is normal on Gulf driver CVs.

Experience lines that build trust

  • Drove a 40-foot flatbed trailer on Dammam–Riyadh–Jeddah highway routes, about 9,000 km a month, with no accident in four years.
  • Delivered ready-mix concrete to high-rise sites with a transit mixer, coordinating pour times with site engineers.
  • Operated a vacuum (sewage) tanker for municipal and camp contracts, including daily pump checks and safe discharge.
  • Drove a 66-seat staff bus on fixed shift routes for 300+ workers, keeping arrival times within five minutes.
  • Did daily pre-trip checks of tyres, brakes, lights, fluids and load securing, and reported defects in the vehicle log.
  • Used GPS and fleet tracking systems and followed speed and rest-time rules set by the company.

"Accident-free years" and "km per month" are the two numbers to include if you know them.

Getting a local licence: what really happens

Most heavy drivers coming to the Gulf for the first time cannot simply swap their home licence. Plan for a local test, and say on your CV that you are ready for it.

  • Qatar – holders of licences from several countries, including India, have been required to join a driving school course and pass the Traffic Department test rather than exchange directly (Gulf Times). Heavy vehicle applicants must be at least 21, and the heavy licence fee for non-Qataris has been reported at QAR 300, valid for five years (Marhaba). The employer's approval letter for the licence type is part of the file (Qatar Living).
  • Saudi Arabia – heavy licences are open to non-Saudis, but the occupation on your Iqama must allow heavy driving, and the employer gives an identification letter. You also need an Absher account, a medical check, training and tests (KSA Expats guide).
  • UAE – conversion depends on the country list and the vehicle class; heavy categories may need extra checks or a test. Some UAE employers ask for an existing UAE licence because they cannot wait for training.

This is why vacancies that "require a GCC licence" pay more: the employer saves months. Rules change, so confirm with the employer before you travel. Last checked: October 2026.

Mistakes that get driver CVs rejected

  • No licence class or expiry. The manager cannot shortlist without it.
  • "Light and heavy driver" without saying which licence you hold for each.
  • Hiding accidents or fines. They show up in checks; one honest line is better.
  • No route or vehicle detail. "Driver in Saudi" is weak; "trailer driver, Eastern Province–Riyadh highway" is strong.
  • An expiring licence or passport. Renew both before applying.

Interview and road test

Expect a short talk and a yard test: reversing a trailer into a bay, a pre-trip check in front of the tester, and questions about blind spots, load securing and what you do when a tyre bursts on the highway. Practise with our Gulf driver interview questions guide.

FAQ

What should a heavy driver CV start with?

Your licence block: home-country licence class and expiry, any GCC licence, and endorsements. Then passport details and the vehicles you drive.

Can I drive a heavy vehicle in Qatar with my Indian licence?

Usually not directly. Indian licence holders have been required to join a driving school course and pass the Qatar Traffic Department test. Your employer arranges the file and the approval letter.

How much does a heavy driver earn in the Gulf in 2026?

In October 2026 vacancies on Resume Arab, heavy drivers were offered AED 2,500 a month in Abu Dhabi, QAR 2,100 in Qatar and SAR 1,700 in Saudi Arabia, and a delivery driver KWD 225 in Kuwait.

Does a GCC licence increase salary?

Often yes, because the employer avoids months of training and testing. Put a valid GCC licence in your title line.
