Warehouse and Logistics Interview Questions for Gulf Jobs (2026)

Warehouse and Logistics Interview Questions for Gulf Jobs (2026)

Warehouse and logistics jobs are among the most common Gulf openings for workers from South Asia and the Philippines. The interview is usually short β€” sometimes just a few questions and a quick physical or skills check. Prepare for these questions and you will stand out from candidates who walk in unprepared.

The 3 core questions (from Resume Arab's Interview Questions tool)

1. "Have you operated a forklift before?"

This decides whether you are hired as a helper or an operator.

Good answer if yes: "Yes, two years on a 3-ton counterbalance forklift in a cold-storage warehouse. I hold a forklift certificate from 2023 and I am ready to take the local licence."

Good answer if no: "Not yet, but I have worked next to forklift operators for a year, I know the safety rules, and I want to get trained." Honesty here builds trust.

2. "Can you lift heavy loads regularly?"

Good answer: confirm, and show you know how to lift safely. "Yes. I lift cartons of 20–25 kg every day. I bend my knees, keep my back straight, and ask for help or a trolley for heavier items."

3. "Are you comfortable working in shifts?"

Good answer: "Yes, I have worked rotating day and night shifts and I can adjust. I take care of my sleep and I am always on time." Gulf warehouses often run long or night shifts, especially in e-commerce and ports.

More questions to expect

  • "What did you do in your last job?" β€” list tasks: loading, unloading, picking, packing, scanning, stock counting
  • "Have you used a barcode scanner or handheld device?"
  • "How do you make sure you pick the right item?" β€” check the code, quantity and location twice
  • "What would you do if you saw a damaged pallet or spilled goods?" β€” stop, report to the supervisor, mark the area
  • "Why do you want to work in the Gulf?" β€” be honest and positive: steady work, saving for family, learning new skills

Why these jobs are in demand

Warehousing is busy across the Gulf. In Dubai, an Emirates NBD analysis reported by Emirates 24|7 found warehouse rents up 6.8% year on year in 2026 with occupancy close to full, a sign of strong activity. Live warehouse helper listings on Indeed UAE show the typical asks: loading and unloading, sorting parcels, picking with scanners and keeping the warehouse clean.

Knowing this helps in the interview. When asked "Why warehouse work?", you can say: "Logistics is growing here, and I want to build skills, like scanner picking and forklift, that let me grow with it."

Questions for e-commerce and cold-storage warehouses

Different warehouses ask different follow-up questions:

  • E-commerce fulfilment: "How many orders could you pick per hour?" "How do you handle a wrong-item complaint?" Speed with accuracy is the focus.
  • Cold storage: "Can you work in a chiller or freezer room for long periods?" Mention that you understand protective clothing and short breaks to warm up.
  • Port and container yards: "Have you worked near heavy machinery?" Talk about staying in walkways, wearing high-visibility vests and following the banksman.
  • Construction materials stores: "How do you stack cement bags or steel safely?" Mention stack height limits and keeping aisles clear.

Simple practical tests

Some employers check:

  • Lifting and carrying a carton safely
  • Reading labels and matching codes
  • Basic counting and writing quantities
  • For operators: a short forklift driving test

Safety answers that impress supervisors

Warehouse supervisors care about safety above speed. Prepare short, concrete answers:

  • Manual handling: "I test the weight first, bend my knees, keep the load close, and never twist while carrying. For anything over about 25 kg I ask for a trolley or a second person."
  • Forklift zones: "I stay in marked walkways, make eye contact with the operator before crossing, and never walk under a raised load."
  • Racking: "Heavy items go low, nothing overhangs the pallet edge, and I report damaged racking straight away."
  • Housekeeping: "Shrink-wrap and straps go in the bin immediately so nobody trips."
  • Heat: "I drink water every hour in summer and tell my supervisor if I feel dizzy."

These answers show you will not cause accidents, which is exactly what the interviewer is checking.

If you want to become a forklift operator

Tell the interviewer clearly. In the UAE, forklift operators need a licence from the traffic authority; Dubai's RTA publishes an official Forklift Handbook covering the rules and the test. Saying "I have read the RTA forklift handbook and want to take the licence once I have my residence visa" shows initiative. Pay for operators is typically higher than for helpers, so it is a natural first promotion. See our forklift operator salary guide for the numbers.

After the interview

If you are selected, read the offer carefully before paying for anything: job title, basic salary, overtime, working hours, accommodation, food and transport should all be written. Ask how salary is paid; in most Gulf countries it goes through an official wage protection system into a bank or card account. Keep a copy of the offer on your phone.

What to bring

  • Passport copy and photos
  • Any certificates (forklift, safety, previous employer letters)
  • A simple CV with your tasks and numbers β€” for example "picked 300+ orders per shift"

FAQ

Do I need English for warehouse jobs?

Basic English helps for reading labels and talking to supervisors. Many teams also use Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam or Tagalog.

Is experience required?

Many helper roles accept freshers. Any loading, packing or store work counts.

Can a helper become a forklift operator in the Gulf?

Yes β€” many do, after getting trained and obtaining the local licence.

How many orders should a picker handle per shift?

It depends on the warehouse and product size. Give your own real numbers from past work instead of guessing.
