A construction supervisor in Dubai earns about AED 5,100–6,000 a month on average in 2026. Naukrigulf's Dubai page shows an average near AED 5,120 from 53 reported salaries (range AED 2,500–12,000), and its UAE-wide page shows about AED 5,459, rising from roughly AED 3,589 for under 6 years' experience to AED 6,946 for 12+ years (Naukrigulf UAE, Naukrigulf Dubai). Indeed's Dubai average was higher, near AED 5,972. This guide explains why the range is so wide, what a supervisor is really responsible for, and how to win the job.

Why Dubai keeps hiring supervisors
Construction activity is high. Dubai Municipality issued 10,776 building permits in Q1 2026, up 12% on Q1 2025, and 3,154 completion certificates in the same quarter (Middle East Construction News). Analysts also warn that delivery capacity — enough contractors and site leaders — is the main constraint as many projects run at the same time (Fast Company Middle East). That is exactly the gap a competent supervisor fills.
Supervisor pay by experience
| Experience | Typical monthly pay (Naukrigulf UAE) |
|---|---|
| Under 6 years | Around AED 3,589 |
| 6–12 years | Around AED 5,868 |
| 12+ years | Around AED 6,946 |
What pushes an offer above these averages:
- Trade depth — civil/structure, finishing, MEP or façade supervision each pay differently; MEP and façade often pay more.
- Project type — high-rise towers and infrastructure pay more than small villa projects.
- Team size — supervising 50 workers is not the same job as supervising 8.
- Drawings and documentation — reading shop drawings and handling inspection requests (IRs) and material submittals.
- A UAE driving licence when you cover several sites.

What a construction supervisor actually does
Before work starts:
- Plan the day's activities with the site engineer: manpower, materials, equipment.
- Check drawings are the latest revision.
- Run the toolbox talk with the safety officer.
During the day:
- Allocate crews, watch quality and productivity, solve problems on the spot.
- Coordinate with other trades so crews don't block each other.
- Raise inspection requests and attend consultant inspections.
- Make sure permits to work are in place for high-risk tasks.
End of day:
- Record progress, manpower and issues in the daily report.
- Flag material shortages and delays early to the engineer.
Summer: plan around the midday break (no direct-sun work 12:30 pm–3:00 pm, 15 June–15 September). Good supervisors re-sequence work — indoor finishing in the afternoon, concrete pours early morning — so the schedule doesn't slip.
Supervisor vs foreman vs site engineer
| Role | Main focus |
|---|---|
| Foreman | Leads one trade crew hands-on (e.g., steel fixers) |
| Supervisor | Oversees several crews or a whole area; quality, progress, coordination |
| Site engineer | Technical decisions, drawings, measurements, consultant liaison |
Many supervisors come up from foreman; some engineers start as supervisors. Be clear on your CV which one you are — recruiters filter by exact title.
Interview questions supervisors get in Dubai
Gulf contractors screen supervisors on three things: can you run a crew safely, can you read the drawings, and can you keep the programme on track. Expect questions like these, and answer with a real example from your own sites.
- "How many workers have you supervised at one time?" Give a number and the type of work, for example "a crew of 25 on blockwork and plaster for a G+12 residential tower".
- "What do you do when a subcontractor falls behind?" Explain how you track daily progress against the look-ahead plan, raise it early with the site engineer, and re-plan manpower.
- "How do you handle the summer midday break?" Show you know the UAE midday work ban (12:30 to 3:00 pm, 15 June to 15 September) and how you shift work hours to protect output.
- "Walk me through a toolbox talk." Name the topic, how long it took, and how you recorded attendance.
- "Can you read this drawing?" Many interviews include a short drawing test. Practise reading levels, gridlines and section details before you go.
Moving up from supervisor
A supervisor role is a step, not the end of the ladder. The common next moves in UAE construction are general foreman, site manager or construction manager. Supervisors who move up usually add three things to their CV:
- A recognised safety certificate such as IOSH Managing Safely or a NEBOSH certificate, which many main contractors ask for at foreman level and above.
- Planning tools: basic Primavera P6 or MS Project, so you can read and update a programme instead of only following it.
- Proof of results: projects handed over on time, zero lost-time incidents, or rework you cut. Numbers like these are what hiring managers remember.
If you have more than 12 years of experience, the Naukrigulf figures above show pay rising to around AED 6,946 a month, so a clear record of results is worth adding before you apply.
