Restaurant Manager Salary in Dubai 2026: Pay, Skills and CV Tips

Dubai has one of the busiest restaurant scenes in the world, and every outlet needs someone who can run the floor, control food cost and keep inspectors happy. That person is the restaurant manager. This guide shows what the job really pays in 2026, why the published numbers disagree so much, what Dubai employers check before they hire, and how to build a CV that gets you to interview.

Restaurant Manager salary comparison: India vs Dubai

Chart: our September 2026 snapshot of Indeed averages. The figures below are newer.

Salary sites give very different answers for this role, mainly because a "restaurant manager" can mean a small café or a 200-cover fine-dining outlet.

  • Indeed UAE: about AED 7,886 a month for Dubai, but Indeed's Dubai salary page builds this from only a handful of reported salaries, so treat it as rough.
  • Payscale: an average of about AED 78,000 a year for Dubai, with a very wide middle range (Payscale, Restaurant Manager, Dubai).
  • Live job ads: recent GulfTalent listings for Dubai restaurant managers advertise roughly AED 9,000–16,000 a month including fixed allowances, sometimes plus tips and service charge.

A sensible planning range is AED 8,000–16,000 a month for an experienced manager at an established outlet, lower for small cafés and quick-service units. In India, the national average on Indeed was about ₹38,525 a month when we last checked, so the move usually multiplies take-home pay several times even before accommodation.

Last checked: October 2026. These are reported figures, not guaranteed offers.

What decides your package

Restaurant Manager salary in Dubai by role level

  1. Outlet type. Fine dining and hotel restaurants pay more than casual dining, and casual dining pays more than quick service.
  2. Covers and revenue. A manager responsible for a busy 150-cover outlet with AED-million monthly sales is paid for that responsibility.
  3. Brand. Large hospitality groups and franchise operators usually offer fuller packages: housing or allowance, transport, medical cover and a yearly ticket.
  4. Tips and service charge. Some outlets share these with management; others do not. Ask how it works and get it in writing.
  5. Experience in the UAE. Managers who already know Dubai Municipality inspections and local suppliers are easier to hire.

What Dubai employers check before hiring

Every food business in Dubai must have a trained Person in Charge (PIC) on site. According to Dubai Municipality, all food establishments must name a responsible PIC who holds a food safety certificate, and the PIC runs daily checks and reports through the municipality's Foodwatch system. Restaurant managers are often that person, so a PIC certificate (or willingness to get one quickly) is a real advantage.

Employers also look for:

  • Cost control: food cost and beverage cost percentages, waste logs, stock counts.
  • People management: rota planning, training new staff, handling a team from many nationalities.
  • Systems: a POS system, inventory software, online-order platforms.
  • Guest recovery: how you handle complaints and online reviews.

Visa and joining process

Your employer sponsors the UAE work visa after you accept an offer. The usual order is: signed offer letter, work permit and entry permit through MOHRE, arrival, medical fitness test, Emirates ID biometrics and residence visa stamping. Many food businesses also need you to complete an occupational health card and food safety training soon after joining, so keep your certificates ready.

Interview questions restaurant managers get in Dubai

  • "What was your food cost percentage, and how did you bring it down?" Give a real number and the actions you took (portion control, menu engineering, supplier changes).
  • "How do you prepare for a municipality inspection?" Talk about daily checklists, temperature logs, pest control records and staff hygiene.
  • "A guest posts a one-star review. What do you do?" Show you reply fast, fix the cause and follow up with the team.
  • "How do you plan the rota for Ramadan or a long weekend?" Explain forecasting covers and adjusting shifts.
  • "Tell us about a team member you developed." Promotions you made happen are strong proof of leadership.

A restaurant manager CV that gets shortlisted

Hiring managers in Dubai skim CVs quickly. Put these near the top:

  • Outlet profile: type of cuisine, seats or covers per day, monthly sales you were responsible for.
  • Results with numbers: food cost cut from 34% to 29%, guest score raised, staff turnover reduced.
  • Certificates: food safety / PIC, HACCP, first aid, alcohol licence training if relevant.
  • Systems: the POS and inventory tools you used.
  • Keywords: F&B operations, P&L, cost control, inventory, rota planning, guest experience, food safety, vendor management.

Keep it to two pages and add a clear line on your notice period. You can start from our CV templates or practise with the interview questions tool. Compare offers with the cost of living calculator.

Common mistakes

  • Writing "Restaurant Manager" with no outlet size, sales or covers.
  • Leaving out cost control. It is the first thing owners ask about.
  • Accepting an offer without checking whether tips or service charge are shared.
  • Not mentioning food safety certificates.

⚠️ Recruitment safety

Never pay a fee just because someone promises a job. Verify the employer, get a written offer and contract, and check any recruitment charges through official channels before paying.

FAQs

How much does a restaurant manager earn in Dubai?

Published figures range widely. Recent job ads for established outlets show about AED 9,000–16,000 a month including allowances, while smaller outlets pay less.

Do I need a hotel management degree?

It helps, but many employers hire on strong outlet experience. Proof of results and food safety training matter as much as the degree.

Is a food safety certificate required?

Every Dubai food business must have a certified Person in Charge on site. Managers often hold this role, so the certificate makes you more useful from day one.

Do restaurant managers get overtime?

Most managers are on a fixed package. Check working hours and days off in your contract before signing.
