A plumber in Dubai typically earns around AED 2,000β3,400 a month in 2026, depending on experience, the type of project and whether food, housing and transport come on top. Indeed's Dubai data put the average near AED 2,056 (updated February 2026), with other salary reports running up to about AED 3,400. This guide explains what moves you up that range, the UAE rules that protect plumbers on site, and how to write a CV that gets you hired.
Last checked: October 2026. Averages are from salary-report sites (Indeed and similar); real offers vary by employer, so always compare the full package, not only the basic.
What a plumber's pay in Dubai really includes
Gulf offers are quoted in different ways, and this causes most of the confusion:
- Basic salary β the fixed part. End-of-service gratuity is calculated on this.
- Allowances β food, transport, housing or "other allowance".
- Benefits in kind β company accommodation, shared bus to site, meals.
- Overtime β paid on top when you work beyond normal hours.
Two offers of "AED 2,000" can be very different if one includes free accommodation and the other does not. Use the cost of living calculator to see what is left after rent and food, and check your trade against others with the Gulf salary tool.
Typical spread you will see:
| Profile | Monthly range seen in reports and offers |
|---|---|
| New to the Gulf, general plumbing | Around AED 1,800β2,200 + food/housing |
| 3β5 years, site and building maintenance | Around AED 2,200β3,000 |
| Lead plumber / foreman, drawings and team | AED 3,000 and above |

For comparison, Indeed India's average for plumbers was about βΉ17,600 a month (May 2026), so the move only makes sense if the Dubai package leaves real savings after costs. Convert with the currency converter.
Where plumbers work in Dubai β and how it changes pay
- Construction sites (MEP contractors): installing water supply, drainage and firefighting pipes in new towers and villas. Steady work, accommodation usually provided, but heat and long shifts.
- Facility management (FM): maintaining hotels, malls, hospitals and residential buildings β leaks, water heaters, pumps and booster sets. Often more indoor work and regular hours.
- Villa and home maintenance companies: call-out jobs, more customer contact; good English and driving can add value.
- Industrial and marine: process piping and pipe-fitting roles pay more but expect welding or fitting certificates.
Recruiters pay more for plumbers who can read drawings, work with PPR, CPVC, UPVC, copper and GI pipes, test and commission systems, and handle pumps and water tanks without supervision.
UAE rules every plumber should know
These are summarised from guides to Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021; check your own contract.
- Hours and overtime: normal hours are 8 a day / 48 a week; overtime is paid at basic hourly wage plus at least 25%, and more for night overtime (ZenHR UAE labour law guide).
- Gratuity: at the end of service you earn 21 days' basic pay for each of the first five years and 30 days for each year after β another reason the basic salary matters.
- Annual leave: 30 calendar days a year after one year of service.
- Summer midday break: from 15 June to 15 September 2026, work under direct sun is banned from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm, with exemptions only for technical work that cannot stop; employers who break the rule face fines of Dh5,000 per worker (Gulf News). Rooftop and external plumbing falls under this.
- Salary through WPS: private employers must pay wages through the Wage Protection System; since 1 June 2026 salaries are due by the first day of the following month (LexisNexis). If your salary keeps coming late or in cash, you can complain to MoHRE.

Pick a Gulf-format layout from our CV templates. If you also do electrical work, a combined "plumber cum electrician" title can open more maintenance jobs β but only if you can prove both.
Mistakes that cost plumbers good offers
- Writing only "plumber" with no setting (site, FM, villa maintenance) or pipe types.
- No project details β floors, units, hotel rooms or buildings maintained.
- Hiding Gulf experience in a long paragraph instead of the first lines.
- Accepting an offer without asking whether food, housing and transport are extra or included.
- Paying a "visa charge" to an unverified agent. Check the job and employer before paying anything.
