Demi Chef de Partie Salary in Saudi Arabia 2026: Pay and CV Tips

Demi Chef de Partie Salary in Saudi Arabia 2026: Pay and CV Tips

A demi chef de partie (DCDP) sits in the middle of the kitchen brigade: above the commis, below the chef de partie. In an Arabic kitchen that means you can run the mezze or grill section on your own when the CDP is off, train the commis, and keep the section's prep and stock under control. Riyadh Season brings a burst of hiring for exactly this level every autumn. This guide uses a real September 2026 Riyadh Season circular to explain the pay, the visa route, the health certificate you will need and how to show your Arabic-cuisine skills on a CV.

Riyadh Season pay for a DCDP (Arabic cuisine)

Demi Chef de Partie (DCDP) salary comparison: India vs Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The September 2026 circular for Riyadh Season food and beverage outlets listed:

  • SAR 2,000–2,500 a month for a Demi Chef de Partie, Arabic cuisine
  • A free duty meal
  • A 6-month work visa issued through the Saudi e-visa route, with direct employer selection

At about ₹22.5 per riyal, that is roughly ₹45,000–56,000 a month. In India, a demi chef in a hotel kitchen typically earns somewhere between commis and CDP pay; industry salary data we checked put that band around ₹18,000–25,000 a month.

Why autumn is hiring season in Riyadh

Riyadh Season is a huge entertainment festival with food courts, pop-up restaurants and fine-dining outlets across zones such as Boulevard World and Boulevard City. The 2026 edition is scheduled to open on 21 October and run for about ten weeks, according to Gulf News and TradeArabia. Operators staff up in September and October, which is why short-contract chef visas appear in this window. Expect long, busy shifts during weekends and holidays.

What the job demands in an Arabic kitchen

Mezze section: hummus, mutabbal, tabbouleh, fattoush, muhammara and warak enab made to recipe, in large batches, with consistent texture and seasoning.

Grill section: marinating and grilling shish tawook, kebab, lamb chops and mixed grills to the right doneness; managing charcoal or gas grills safely.

Bread and hot mezze: sambousek, kibbeh and manakish if the outlet has an oven.

Leadership: running the section's mise en place, writing prep lists, checking the commis's work, and keeping the walk-in organised with labels and dates.

Health certificate: required before you cook

Every food worker in Saudi Arabia needs a municipal health certificate. The Balady platform issues it after a medical examination at an accredited centre and a health-education test where required, and the official service page lists an execution time of 4–10 days. For short seasonal contracts, Balady also runs a seasonal health certificate service. Your employer applies, but you must attend the medical promptly; outlets cannot open stations with uncertified staff.

Working in Saudi kitchens: practical points

  • Residency and payroll. Longer contracts go through Qiwa (contracts), Absher (residency) and Mudad (wage protection). On a 6-month seasonal visa, confirm with the employer how salary is paid and what documents you will hold.
  • Accommodation. The circular stated a free duty meal; it did not list housing. Ask in writing whether accommodation and transport are provided, because Riyadh rents are high.
  • Medical before travel. Requirements depend on visa route and nationality. This circular's route did not require the standard GAMCA medical, but confirm your own case with the employer.
  • Hours. Event kitchens run late. Check your shift length and day off in the contract.

Commis, demi, CDP: where you fit

The three kitchen levels differ in responsibility more than in cooking skill. A commis follows instructions and preps. A demi chef de partie can run a section alone on a quiet shift and checks the commis's work. A chef de partie owns the section: ordering, costing, rotas and standards. In the same Riyadh Season drive, kitchen commis roles were advertised at SAR 2,000–2,500 and CDP roles at SAR 3,000–3,500, so the real pay jump comes when you take full ownership of a section.

How to pass the kitchen trial

Most Riyadh Season operators run a practical trial or ask for a cooking video. Prepare:

  1. A mezze trio plated cleanly (for example hummus, mutabbal and tabbouleh).
  2. One grilled item cooked to the right temperature with garnish.
  3. Knife work: fine parsley chop, onion brunoise.

Work clean, label anything you store, and taste before you plate. Examiners judge your station as much as your food.

DCDP CV checklist (Arabic cuisine)

  • Signature dishes: list 6–8 dishes you can produce to standard.
  • Leadership: number of commis you trained or supervised.
  • Hygiene: food safety course, HACCP awareness.
  • Keywords: Arabic cuisine, mezze, charcoal grill, mise en place, recipe costing, HACCP, batch cooking, section management.

Don't fall for fake chef visas

A genuine offer letter names the outlet or company, the salary, the visa type and the contract length. If a middleman wants money before showing that letter, stop. Check the company through official Saudi channels first.
