An assistant aluminium technician is the entry door into facade and cladding work in Qatar. You carry and prepare profiles, help fix brackets and panels, seal joints and keep the work area safe while a senior technician leads the installation. It is a good role for a young worker with some fabrication or construction experience who wants to learn a skilled trade on Doha's towers. This guide uses a real September 2026 Doha circular to explain the pay, what the money is actually worth after Qatar's wage rules, and how to move up to technician.
Package on the September 2026 Doha circular

A cladding division in Doha hired 20 assistant aluminium technicians on this package:
| Component | QAR per month |
|---|---|
| Basic salary | 1,200 |
| Food allowance | 200 |
| Other allowance | 50 |
| Total | 1,450 |
Accommodation and transport were provided, the contract was for two years or more, medical and insurance followed company policy and Qatar labour law, and the working day was 9 hours including a 1-hour break. GCC experience was preferred but not required.
At about ₹26.3 to the riyal, QAR 1,450 is around ₹38,000 a month. Entry-level aluminium fabricator and helper jobs advertised in Kerala in 2026 mostly paid about ₹12,000–18,000.

How this compares with Qatar's minimum wage
Qatar has a non-discriminatory minimum wage for all workers. Under Law No. 17 of 2020, which the Ministry of Labour put into effect on 20 March 2021, the basic minimum is QAR 1,000 a month; if the employer does not provide food and housing, it must also pay at least QAR 300 for food and QAR 500 for accommodation, as the Qatar embassy's notice on the ministry announcement and Gulf News reported.
This circular's basic of QAR 1,200 is above the QAR 1,000 floor, and housing is provided. The food allowance of QAR 200 is lower than the QAR 300 figure that applies when an employer gives no food at all, so before you sign, ask whether meals are provided at the camp or whether the QAR 200 is the whole food support. Getting this clear in writing protects you.
What the job involves
- Unloading, sorting and cutting aluminium profiles to length
- Drilling and fixing brackets and anchors under supervision
- Helping lift and position composite panels, glass units and louvres
- Applying sealant and gaskets, cleaning surfaces before sealing
- Moving materials safely on scaffolds, gondolas or mast climbers
- Keeping tools, offcuts and the work zone tidy
You will often work at height, so a working-at-height course and a clean safety attitude count for a lot.
Summer working rules in Qatar
Qatar bans outdoor work in direct sun during the hottest hours of summer. In 2026 the Ministry of Labour enforced the ban from 1 June to 15 September, between 10:00 am and 3:30 pm, under Ministerial Decision No. 17 of 2021, as The Peninsula reported. The ban is enforced: Khaleej Times reported that 388 sites were closed for violations in 2026. On facade jobs, that usually means early starts and some evening work in summer.

Life in a Doha labour camp
Most cladding workers live in company accommodation in the Industrial Area or similar zones, with shared rooms, a mess or kitchen, and buses to site. Ask before you travel how many people share a room, whether there is air conditioning and a laundry, and what time the bus leaves for site. Keep your passport with you; under Qatar's reforms, employers are not allowed to hold it without consent. Save your payslips and contract on your phone so you can check your wages every month.
From assistant to technician
The usual path is assistant, then aluminium or facade technician, then foreman. On the same Doha circular, the facade technician role paid QAR 1,700, so stepping up is worth roughly QAR 250 a month at this company, with bigger jumps at senior and foreman level. To move up, learn to:
- Read shop drawings and setting-out lines.
- Install brackets and panels to tolerance without supervision.
- Use a laser level and plumb correctly.
- Seal joints neatly so they pass inspection the first time.
Ask your technician to let you take on one task at a time, and keep photos of work you finished (where the site allows it) to show at your next interview. Our facade technician salary guide covers the next level.

Before you pay anyone
A real job comes with an offer letter naming the company, the salary breakdown and the contract length. Do not hand money to anyone who refuses to show these, and check the company and the visa type through official channels first.
