AC Technician Salary in Dubai 2026: Real Pay, Skills and CV Tips

AC Technician Salary in Dubai 2026: Real Pay, Skills and CV Tips

In Dubai, air conditioning is not a comfort, it is survival. Summer temperatures stay above 40Β°C for months, so every villa, flat, shop and office depends on its AC units, and every AC unit needs a technician. That makes AC technician one of the most steady trades for workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. This guide covers what AC technicians really earn in 2026, how the job differs from a full HVAC role, and how to get shortlisted.

AC technician salary in Dubai in 2026

AC Technician salary comparison: India vs Dubai

Published figures for this trade are low-sample and scattered, so read them together:

  • Payscale: the Dubai AC technician page gives a median of about AED 3,000 a month.
  • Indeed and job ads: company salary pages on Indeed and live listings such as Indeed's AC technician jobs mostly show AED 1,500–2,500 a month for entry and mid-level technicians, with HVAC-titled roles at some firms around AED 4,000.
  • Our earlier check: combined Indeed/Glassdoor data put the Dubai base at about AED 2,539–2,700 a month in September 2026.

A realistic plan: AED 1,800–3,000 a month basic for a technician with a few years of split and ducted AC experience, usually with accommodation and transport. Technicians who handle chillers, VRF systems or building maintenance contracts earn more. AED 5,000 or above is a senior or supervisory figure, not a typical starting salary.

Last checked: October 2026. These are reported figures, not guaranteed offers.

AC technician vs HVAC technician

The two titles overlap, but Dubai employers usually mean different things:

  • AC technician: installs, services and repairs split, window, cassette and small ducted units in homes, shops and small offices. Gas charging, cleaning, fault finding and customer visits are the core.
  • HVAC technician: works on larger building systems such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF and controls, often for facility management companies.

If you have only split-AC experience, apply as an AC technician and say so clearly. If you have worked on chillers or VRF, add it near the top of your CV because it moves you into the higher pay band.

What decides your package

  1. System type: split and window units pay least; VRF, chillers and central plants pay most.
  2. Employer: facility management companies with yearly maintenance contracts usually offer steadier work and fuller packages than small repair shops.
  3. Overtime and call-outs: summer is peak season, and emergency call-outs can add overtime pay.
  4. Driving licence: a UAE light vehicle licence is a strong plus for service technicians who travel between jobs.
  5. Certificates: ITI or diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and refrigerant handling training.

Summer working rules

AC demand peaks exactly when the heat is worst. Technicians working on outdoor units and rooftops follow the UAE midday break: in 2026, MoHRE banned outdoor work in direct sun from 12:30 to 3:00 pm between 15 June and 15 September. Service companies plan rooftop jobs for the morning and indoor work for the afternoon, so expect early starts in summer.

What employers test you on

  • Fault finding: an AC that runs but does not cool. Check filters, coil, gas pressure, capacitor and fan motor in a logical order.
  • Gas charging: use gauges correctly, know the refrigerant type on the nameplate, and never mix refrigerants.
  • Electrical basics: read a wiring diagram, test with a multimeter, replace a capacitor or contactor safely.
  • Installation: mounting, piping, flaring, vacuuming and leak testing.
  • Customer handling: explain the problem simply and keep the home clean.

Visa and joining process

After selection, the employer sponsors your UAE work visa through MOHRE. Expect an entry permit, a medical fitness test after arrival, Emirates ID biometrics and residence visa stamping. If the job includes driving, ask whether the company will support your UAE driving licence.

Interview questions AC technicians get

  • "The unit is tripping the breaker. What do you check first?"
  • "How do you vacuum a system before charging, and for how long?"
  • "How many service calls did you handle in a day?" Give a real number.
  • "Have you worked on VRF or chillers?" Be honest; say what you have touched.

An AC technician CV that gets shortlisted

  • Title: "AC Technician (Split / Ducted)" or "AC Technician (VRF)".

  • Not mentioning a driving licence.

⚠️ Recruitment safety

Never pay a fee just because someone promises a job. Verify the employer, get a written offer and contract, and check any recruitment charges through official channels before paying.
